E-Motive exchange: Context meets Training for Transformation
From September 26 until October 1, 2011 two trainers of Training for Transformation (http://www.grailprogrammes.org.za) will be visiting Context, international cooperation as part of an E-Motive exchange. E-Motive creates a platform for North-South cooperation through its exchange programmes.
Training for Transformation (TfT) is a method that was developed in the 70s in Kenya. The method is based on the philosophy of Paulo Freire’s methods of Adult Education and other thinkers such as Rivo Tivo. The methodology was developed to meet the critical need for mobilizing organizing communities on psycho – social generative themes and take action to change their lives for better. In 2003 an international training for transformation programme was launched at the Cape Town Grail Centre.
The visit of two trainers of Training for Transformation to the Netherlands and to the office of Context in particular, will contribute to strengthening capacities of both organisations by exchanging knowledge, insights, experiences and skills. Training for Transformation and Context are working from related philosophies, but operate in different contexts and with different focus.
For this E-motive exchange three main meetings and events will be organised: (1) training for Context staff members; (2) a public event (Context MasterClass lecture and workshop) in order to disseminate and learn from the TfT approach and methodologies; (3) an informal meeting with some selected client organisations of Context, international cooperation.
