On 24-26 October 2007, CIDSE organised its Populorum Progressio. Around 160 people from virtually all corners of the world came together in Soesterberg (The Netherlands) to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Papal Encyclical Populorum Progressio.
The CIDSE conference was facilitated by James Taylor (CDRA), Patricia Verbauwhede (Broederlijk Delen) and Fons van der Velden photo (Context, international cooperation). To find out more, see the Conference blog.
On 15 – 19 October 2007 the second workshop of the trajectory Learning from Human Rights Programmes took place in Zandvoort, the Netherlands. Most participants of the first workshop in October 2006 in Soesterberg were present. The purpose of the workshop was to shape all the information brought together during the previous workshop and to a lesser extent in the dgroup on the internet into a practical guide or manual for the assessment of human rights programmes.
The 20 participants decided on the contents of the guide and wrote drafts for the following chapters:
Setting the stage for measuring Human Rights programmes;
Assessment of the relevance of Human Rights programmes;
Assessment of organisational capacities of Human Rights organisations;
Assessment of the results of Human Rights programmes; and
Implications for the internal organisation of Human Rights organisations.
The Learning from Human Rights Programmes trajectory is a collaborative initiative of Context, international cooperation, Aim for human rights (previously known as HOM) and the Interchurch Organisation for Development Co-operation (ICCO).
